Late Summer Figure Drawing session one (OK resolution pics)

So, this was my first figure drawing class in... two years? No, three years (didn't take figure drawing while in Mediaworks).  I wasn't expecting much from myself, but I happily found that, for the most part, I remembered the things that my most excellent figure drawing teacher at Evergreen told us we HAD to do... things like loosening up, laying it all out, and using cross-hatching to render and all that.  You can see my eye for proportion isn't quite there yet... it's still on vacation.

P.S. sorry if the explicit nudity offends... but you DID click on "figure drawings"

I love the color combinations in the last two. Is this done with color pencil?

I really enjoyed looking at all of the figure drawings in your most recent posts, and I hope to see more! Cheers from down the street...

hey thanks Jed!

It's conté crayon– like dense, less chalky chalk. At Evergreen, the figure drawing room had a lot of both natural and electric lighting, so there were always lots of cool AND warm highlights and shadows, and I got really into using burnt sienna and cobalt blue crayons to show that, and then blending them with a sort of neutral color... my favorite way to work!
