advent calendar art for Julian

I made Julian an advent calendar for his birthday this year, and since December is RIGHT around the corner, I thought I'd share just the front of the calendar with you all... at the end of the year (after Christmas, when he's opened all the windows) I'll post the photos I took of the inside, too!

I was thinking of selling custom advent calendars in limited quantities from my online shop (thesugarpine.etsy.com) next year... it would be a CRAZy etsy experiment if people actually ordered them!

today feels like this: series one

one day I drew an abstract depiction of what it felt like for me to be alive that day (blue).  it was a nondescript substituting day at BHS, and I did not feel particularly great, but not bad either, just quiet.  it was raining softly, in May, and I felt like I could accept that.  since then, I've been drawing these every few days, just when I feel like it.  I think they look nicer side-by-side than on their own.... comment to share what you think...

Some old figure paintings

I recently photographed more old figure drawings and paintings in case I want to include them in a portfolio... depending on the portfolio.  Each of these was done during a 45 minute - 1hour pose (there are three different models).  If you have a sec, pick your top two or three and let me know.

art of Classical Greece vs. ads of Vanity Fair

just had to do SOMEthing yesterday

a boy and a girl...

I drew this a few months ago sort of randomly... I don't know if it actually leads anywhere, but I guess Adam and Eve is some kind of idea here.

more Vanity Fair ads: 5 women

(actually, the top right one isn't from the magazine... I left her there from the underpainting)
